Interview
I chose to format the interview like that of a psychologist's written transcript, set in the present day. Mary I had a very troubled childhood. Her stepmother mentally and sometimes, physically abused her. This format lets me explore this more in depth.
Text War
Mary had a very mercurial relationship with her sister Elizabeth. This younger sister had briefly supplanted her in the line of succession, when Henry VIII divorced Mary's mother in order to marry Elizabeth's. Elizabeth also refused to covert to Catholicism, when Mary attempted to bring the country back to her religion since infancy. Their relationship became even more strained when a rebellion was lead in Elizabeth's name. The text format lets me convey the quick deterioration in their relationship.
Marriage Annoucement
Mary I's decision to marry Philip of Spain was very controversial. Many people in England wished for her to marry an English man. Her decision was very shrewd, however because if she chose someone from one house another house would be snubbed and possibly rebel. This format allows me to convey the details of who, what, where, and when in a creative way.
Poll
During Mary I's reign there was a lot of religious upheaval. Mary was trying to reinstate Catholicism as the nation's chief religion. At the same time her reforms were actually turning people away from the Catholic church. This format allows me to show the split between the country's opinion on religion.
Dress Designs
In all of my research, Mary I's sumptuous clothing choices have been mentioned. These fashion choices are in direct conflict with the strict Protestants who preferred rather drab garb. In particular she preferred crimson and black. This format allow me to give a visual representation of what she wore.
